About this site and its host

Sonny the Plumber is a made-up character who hosts a data publication about house water and plumbing in Clarksville and Montgomery County, Tennessee, built from published utility, weather and government figures.

Updated 6 November 2026

The site gathers the numbers that sit behind a household's water and plumbing: what Clarksville Gas & Water charges, what its tap water report shows, how many freeze nights a winter brings, how high the Cumberland River has run, and what the permit and septic rules say. Each page leads with one sourced figure and explains it in plain terms, so you can make your own decision. How those figures are chosen, dated and charted is set out on the methods and sources page.

Who is Sonny?

Sonny is a made-up character, not a real person. He is not a licensed plumber, and he is not any Clarksville plumber or plumbing business, past or present. He is the voice of the site: the short "Sonny says" lines on the chart pages sum up what the sourced numbers on that page show, and nothing more. There is no photograph of Sonny, because there is no Sonny to photograph.

What the site is not

This site is a publication, not a plumbing company. It does no plumbing work, takes no calls, and books no jobs or appointments. It has no connection to any Clarksville plumbing firm, to Clarksville Gas & Water, to CDE Lightband or to CEMC, and it does not recommend or rate local businesses. When a job needs a licensed plumber or a permit, the pages say so and point to the office that issues it; the permits page has the details.

Who writes it

Pages carry the line "From Sonny the Plumber", the name of the publication. There are no named writers, and the site does not publish quotes, reviews or stories from people.

Businesses run by the same team

Some pages link to four businesses run by the same team as this site, and each such link is marked where it appears:

Those links never change a number on the site. The figures come from the documents cited on each page, whatever any of these businesses sells.

Where to start

The four shelves are your bill, your water, your pipes and your heater. The front page shows a year in a Clarksville house month by month.
